Now... the Recipe

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, purchased, promoted, supported, or otherwise enjoyed this weekend's National Food Blogger's Bake Sale!


It was a great success and so much fun to be a part of. I donated an Orange Caramel Bundt Cake with Caramel Sauce; the recipe included in this post for your enjoyment.


Orange Caramel Bundt Cake with Caramel Sauce
This cake has a delicious aroma, surpassed only by it's intense taste.

1 cup butter
¼ cup canola oil
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Zest from 2 large oranges
Whip together until creamy

Add
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
Mix together until mixture is combined and batter resembles cookie dough

Add
4 eggs
¼ cup Fahrenheit 350° Caramel Sweet Sauce
¾ cup sour cream
Whisk together until smooth

Pour into prepared bundt cake pan
Bake at 325º, 45-60 minutes, until cake is lightly browned and springs back at the touch
Let rest in pan for 10 minutes
Invert on wire rack
Pour ¼ cup warmed Fahrenheit 350° Caramel Sweet Sauce over hot cake

Veto Week

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K; I took a veto week from LOST and Crêpes. Though,we did celebrate our weekly viewing of course! We recreated the breakfast scene between Ben and Kate, and enjoyed an old world meal while eagerly learning about Ricardo's past.



I also feel like I should offer a blanket apology for the overall lack of decent pictures, decent posts, and decent recipes. Though training @ jetBlue is complete, (I have the diploma to prove it) and my normal working schedule has begun, I however, can't admit quite yet that I have adjusted to my new responsibilities.

It didn't help that my on first day taking "live calls" I encountered a customer... that well, I hope was just having a bad day. He would not cease repeatedly calling me stupid. His problem? He couldn't find his confirmation letter. Though I explained to him it was a 6 letter code, he couldn't find it - and therefore, in his opinion, I became the stupidest person on the planet which he could not refrain from repeating and expressing over and over again.


I actually have a lot of experience dealing with frustrated people. I managed apartments for 6 years, and I get it! I've even done my own fair share of yelling and arguing and accusing over the phone, hassling over a bill or a charge or an unexpected what have you; but never, never have I personally attacked.

I totally froze; I forgot the three strikes rule; I forgot I had a voice. I simply kept repeating how much I wanted to help him. What made matters worse was the fact that his problem was due solely to the fact that he couldn't locate his confirmation number on his itinerary; even his extensive training as a Dr., which he didn't fail to bring up more than 10 times in as many minutes, couldn't help him locate the 6 letter code.

Fortunately, cookies make everything right. I came home and whipped up a batch of chocolate chocolate mint cookies, and brought them to work to share with all my other new fellow graduates to enjoy, as we all venture into this job together.
Chocolate Chocolate Mint Cookies
½ cup butter
½ cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup white sugar
Cream together until smooth

Add
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon mint extract
Mix until eggs are incorporated and mixture lightens

Melt 8oz chocolate, ¼ cup water, ¼ teaspoon mint extract
Stir until mixture is combined
Add to batter
Add
2 ¾ cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup chocolate chips, or chocolate shavings
Stir just until flour is incorporated

Bake at F350°, 9-11 minutes
Transfer and cool on wire rack
